My first meeting with Ben Haggerty and Ryan Lewis, I described as a kick, an addiction I needed to get more out. Soon, I realized that just the word dependent unpleasant enough, was also a word that characterized their music creation.
Ben Hoggerty, or Macklemore which is perhaps a more familiar name, has been working since the early 2000s. In 2005 he released his debut album "The Language of My World" and despite promising reviews, he fell into a dark hole of addiction. But in 2009 he took up and after he teamed up with producer Ryan Lewis he transformed his addiction to power and delivered the cardiac arrest single doodle "Other Side". With the duo's subsequent EP "VS." and "VS. doodle Redux "was craving for a Perfector big and now it's here," The Heist ".
They both are inherently distinctive performers but what makes producer Ryan Lewis unique is his feeling for creating doodle a wide and appreciated sound collages. On "The Heist" he adds importance to various doodle percussion and bases and looking far beyond the security zone. A feeling that becomes particularly clear on the bare track "Neon Cathedral" with soul miracle Allen Stone and the poignant track "Starting Over" where Ben Bridwell from Band of Horses visits. But the evil is born always something good, and that firm believer that everything has a meaning becomes Macklemores artistry a reminder of just that. He has taken the darkest memories doodle and converted doodle to a story that may help someone else.
